Its remote dual-fan motor is installed separately in the ceiling cavity, helping isolate motor noise from the cooking area.

Extraction Performance

The Glem Gas GQA85UCN delivers an impressive maximum extraction capacity of 1200 cubic metres per hour, providing substantial ventilation performance for everyday cooking as well as high-heat frying and other demanding cooking applications.

Unlike a conventional under-cupboard rangehood where the motor is located directly above the cooking surface, the GQA85UCN uses Glem Gas Quiet Air off-board technology. The remote motor is positioned within a suitable ceiling cavity, isolating much of the motor noise from the kitchen so that the predominant sound around the cooking area is the movement of air through the filters.

Three selectable fan speeds allow extraction to be adjusted according to the amount of steam, smoke and cooking residue being produced.

The rangehood is 850mm wide, making it particularly well suited to installation above larger cooking surfaces, including many 90cm cooktops and freestanding cookers.

Two black stainless steel baffle filters provide a professional-style appearance while offering durable grease filtration. Low-consumption LED strip lighting illuminates the cooking area, while the integrated oil collection system helps capture excess cooking residue.

The GQA85UCN requires a suitable ceiling cavity above the kitchen to accommodate the remote motor. Glem specifically recommends checking that sufficient ceiling space is available before selecting this model.

The rangehood must be externally ducted and installed in accordance with Glem Gas installation instructions and applicable Australian requirements. For overhead cupboards extending only around 300mm over the cooking surface, Glem recommends using the rear burners during intensive cooking to help maximise extraction effectiveness.
